Isolation Valves

Plug Valve

Plug Valve uses a cylindrical or tapered plug with a passage to control flow with a quick quarter-turn motion. Available in lubricated, non-lubricated, sleeved, eccentric, and full port designs, it provides reliable tight shut-off and low pressure drop for isolation and flow control across water, sewage, slurry, oil & gas, chemical, and industrial process services.

Introduction

A plug valve is a quarter-turn isolation valve that uses a cylindrical or tapered plug with a passage to start, stop, or regulate flow. It offers tight shut-off, low pressure drop, and simple operation across a wide range of services.

Key Features

  • Quarter-turn operation for quick and positive shut-off.
  • Lubricated, non-lubricated, sleeved, and eccentric plug designs.
  • Full port configuration available.
  • Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, or Alloy Steel plug.
  • PTFE, elastomer, metal, or rubber seat / lining.
  • Full port or reduced port configuration.
  • Bi-directional flow depending on design.
  • Designed to API 599 / API 6D / ASME B16.34 standards.

Application & Usage of Plug Valve

1

Water & Wastewater

Provides reliable isolation and flow control in potable water, sewage, and treatment plant piping.

2

Oil & Gas

Used for block-and-bleed and isolation duties in pipelines, manifolds, and wellhead services where tight shut-off is required.

3

Chemical Process

Handles corrosive and aggressive media with suitable body, plug, and seat materials, ensuring safe isolation.

4

Slurry Service

Full-port designs handle abrasive slurries with minimal clogging and erosion in mining and process plants.

5

Industrial Gases

Provides dependable quarter-turn isolation for air, inert gas, and fuel gas distribution systems.

Types of Plug Valves

Lubricated Plug Valve

Injects a sealant between plug and body to reduce friction and improve sealing, suited to high-pressure services.

Non-Lubricated Plug Valve

Uses a tapered plug, sleeve, or metal-to-metal seating without sealant, reducing maintenance and fugitive emissions.

Sleeved Plug Valve

A PTFE or elastomer sleeve covers the plug to provide bubble-tight shut-off and corrosion resistance.

Eccentric Plug Valve

Offset plug and shaft design minimizes seat wear and operating torque, ideal for throttling and abrasive media.

Certificates & Inspection

All valves are subjected to rigorous hydrostatic shell and seat pressure testing in accordance with standard codes (e.g., API 598 / IS 14846) prior to delivery.

  • Physical dimension and wall-thickness checks
  • Hydrostatic seat and shell test validation
  • Manufacturer Test Certificate (MTC) and third-party inspection (SGS, TUV, RINA, IRS etc.) available
  • Epoxy powder coating inspection (DFT test)
